Engineering Manager, Boeing
Tina Bliss started her manufacturing career as a certified aircraft mechanic, assembler, and fabricator for American Blimp. She spent several years turning wrenches and manufacturing parts for general aviation and lighter than air before returning to school to study mechanical engineering. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Portland State University and joined Boeing as a manufacturing engineer, ME, in 2010. At Boeing, Tina wrote and audited work instructions for the fabrication of complex aircraft hardware and quickly worked her way up to ME first-line leader where she managed around 50 manufacturing engineers and technical employees. In 2020 she graduated from The University of Oregon with her Executive MBA and moved from ME into operations support where she led the cutting tools group for Portland, selecting, developing, procuring, and regrinding specialized cutting tools for Portland operations. Tina is on the governing board of OMIC as a voting member for Boeing as well as OMI. Tina recently took a new job with Boeing’s Joint Programs Group and teaches certification classes to Boeing Portland Employees. Tina is a lifelong Oregonian married to her best friend, Kirk. They have two adult children, a professional writer and a mechanical engineer. Tina and Kirk are active volunteers in STEM programs in Columbia County, specifically FIRST robotics.
